Cost guide
Striping is priced by what has to be marked, not by the size of the lot. Stall count, layout work, and accessible markings do most of the moving.
The short version
A large lot with wide open drive aisles can be less work than a small, tightly packed lot with double the stalls per square foot. Pricing follows the number of stalls, the linear feet of directional lines and crosswalks, and the number of symbols, arrows, and letters.
The other half is condition. If the surface is failing or the old lines are faint enough that the layout has to be re-established, that is layout time before painting starts.
What raises cost
What lowers cost
Restripe vs new layout
A restripe follows what is already on the ground. It is fast, predictable, and the least expensive option when the existing layout still works for the property.
A new layout means measuring the lot, planning stall dimensions and drive aisles, placing accessible stalls near the entrance, and setting it all out before any paint goes down. It costs more because the design and layout work is the job. It is worth it when you are gaining usable stalls or fixing traffic flow that never worked.
Hannibal, MO
Much of the striping work around Hannibal is churches, small retail, offices, and community buildings where the lots are modest and the layout is already set. Those are typically restripes, and the cost sits close to the marking count.
Where lots have not been marked in years, faded lines mean the layout has to be re-established first, which is the main thing separating a cheap restripe from a larger project.
Quincy, IL
Quincy has larger commercial and multi-tenant lots, and those bring more of everything that adds cost: higher stall counts, fire lanes, directional arrows, crosswalks, and more accessible stalls spread across multiple entrances.
Keeping tenants and customers moving while sections are painted usually means phasing the work, and that scheduling is part of the price on any lot that cannot simply close for a day.

Mostly by what has to be painted: the number of stalls, the length of any directional or crosswalk markings, and the accessible stalls and symbols. Layout complexity and traffic control around the work also factor in.
Yes. Restriping follows lines that are already there. A new layout means measuring and setting out the whole lot from scratch, and that design and layout time is real work before any paint goes down.
They involve more than a pair of lines: hatched access aisles, symbols, and signage placement all take additional time and material compared with a standard stall.
When both are needed, doing them in one project is usually the better value, because the lot only has to be closed and mobilized once. Striping goes on after the coating has cured.
